Crystal Reports, by Business Objects (now a SAP company), is a particularly powerful reporting tool because of the wide variety of file types and databases it can read. Even more usefully, Crystal Reports can combine data read from a number of different sources and / or types into one report. So if you are currently in the position where you need to produce a report based on, for example, an Excel workbook and a SQL Server database, then Crystal Reports is the ideal solution for this tricky little problem.
